2022 Call for Presentations

FASD is seeking speakers for all announced 2022 events. We want to ensure our members are prepared to "Detect the New Normal" and bring their special districts into the next era through education at Quarterly Meetings, the Annual Conference, and other events throughout Florida. No matter the venue, we want to move attendees beyond their comfort zone by stimulating interactive discussions and audience engagement on all levels of special district management.

Submission Deadline: Tuesday, February 22, 2022

About our Events

FASD event attendees are special district employees as well as industry suppliers. Attendees include members from special districts which provide limited purpose government on a local level--ranging from fire control, library, port and inlet, mosquito, water control, community development, roads, hospitals, etc. Members attend to both improve their careers through professional development and to gain cutting edge knowledge to take back to their respective districts. This is your opportunity to showcase your presentation to potential clients.

2022 April General Membership Meeting is April 21-22 at the Hyatt Place Tampa Downtown

2022 Annual Conference is June 13-16 at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando

2022 October General Membership Meeting will be October 20-21 in Ft. Lauderdale

What We're Looking For

Attendees must be able to return to their district with a fresh perspective, the ability to implement culture change, and the strategic capacity to deliver and act on new knowledge.

FASD is focused on building an educational development resource for special districts. We are focused on how individuals and special districts can stay relevant in a fast-changing world through professional growth and functional development no matter their career stage or experience. Seasoned special district directors must venture into new areas of knowledge to keep their districts moving forward. Middle and newer employees need to be extended to grow into the next level in their careers. Members new to their jobs or special district field need practical tips to succeed in the industry. We want to include relevant aspects of the special purpose government world that will develop strong districts. Topics like those listed below can all clearly transfer to our members as educational tools.

The Miami Vice theme of the Annual Conference focuses on "Detecting the New Normal.” We intend to include case studies of interesting and unique solutions implemented by organizations. In addition, priority consideration will be given to submissions that include a member and/or associate member covering a current hot-topic or important issue for special purpose governments.

Optimally, presentation teams should consist of 2-3 professionals including at least one member and/or associate member.

Topic areas will include:
  • Artificial Intelligence in Special Purpose Government
  • Cybersecurity Trends & Updates
  • Remote Workforce Best Practices
  • New Payment Options
  • Risk Management
  • Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Professional Development
  • UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) Proficiencies for Special Districts
  • Public Outreach Initiatives and Programs

Give thought to the level your presentation reaches and how you will move attendees forward when writing your overview. Does your presentation stimulate the learner, provoke discussion, and engage the audience? You are imperative to taking FASD members to the next level. Share your knowledge and do not be afraid to step up with new options.

Submission Process

All information submitted with be reviewed by the FASD Conference and Awards Committee to select speakers for our educational opportunities that occur at our Quarterly Meetings and Annual Conference. The submission deadline for the next two events is Tuesday, February 22, 2022.
