We Need Your Help!

In light of recent special district legislation, it was voted upon during the April Board of Directors meeting to create a new "Special Districts Day" to take place during the annual Legislative Forum.

We have begun to make preparations for the upcoming Legislative Forum to take place March 8 - 9, 2023, in Tallahassee. One of the highlights will be "Special Districts Day," all day on Thursday, March 9, in the Capitol Complex Courtyard.

We have reserved the entire Courtyard (the space between the Old Capitol and the "new" Capitol) to showcase how special districts provide services to just about every citizen in this state. In addition to showcasing your equipment, we are planning on offering free hamburgers and hotdogs to entice visitors to stop by and ask questions.

What We Need

We are asking every type of special district to volunteer to bring equipment to Tallahassee that you use in your day-to-day operations and to showcase what you do! What better way to help educate the public (and legislators) to show how invaluable your services are?

You may be wondering where you will store these bulky, and sometimes very large, items before we are allowed to set up that morning? We will have space at the nearby Millionaire FBO where our Executive Director houses his planes. This location has cameras and restricted access so your equipment will be secure over night.

In order to ensure we have different types of equipment/trucks/vehicles/drones/etc., please email me at [email protected] to let me know what you plan on bringing so we have a running list.

Every district has something important to showcase, whether it's an actual vehicle or items you use for educational purposes. We need to remind the public what you do so they remember how SPECIAL our districts are.
