COMMUNITY MANAGER

BAREFOOT BAY RECREATION DISTRICT

The Barefoot Bay Recreation District (BBRD) is managed by Special District Services, Inc. (SDS), a private contract management firm. SDS is seeking a professional to serve as the full-time Community Manager for the BBRD.  The Community Manager will report to the Board of Trustees and be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the District.

The BBRD is a deed-restricted community of 5,000 manufactured homes in Micco, Florida of Brevard County.  The District functions as a Special District according to Chapter 418 F.S. and is administered by a 5-member Board of Trustees who are elected by the residents.    The Chairman is elected from among the members of the Board.

In addition to the Community Manager, there are about 70 other paid administrative and operational personnel.  The District owns and maintains a variety of community amenities including swimming pools, public grounds, restaurants, an 18-hole golf course, a boardwalk and a commercial center.  The District collects its primary revenue from non-ad valorem assessments via annual tax bill.

The new Community Manager will hold a Bachelors degree in an administrative discipline, and will have training in finance and accounting.  He or she will be technologically adept and computer literate, and will have a minimum of five years of management experience in a public or private organization.  A Certified District Manager designation is preferred, but not required.  The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of Florida statutes affecting Special Districts, and will have highly developed communication and customer service skills.  He or she must know the requirements of the Florida Sunshine Law.  He or she will be sensitive to the needs of residents, be diplomatic and tactful, and treat each Trustee with impartiality and fairness.  He or she will have a strong personality, and will have the ability to distinguish between resident needs that can be accommodated under existing rules and regulations, and demands of residents who insist on special or unequal treatment that does not conform to those rules and regulations.

The starting salary will depend on qualifications, and is negotiable to a maximum of $80,000.  Fringe benefits are also negotiable.  Resumes should be e-mailed (printed and faxed resumes will not be accepted) to twodraska@sdsinc.org by August 15, 2011.  Questions should be addressed to Todd Wodraska at (561) 630-4922, or e-mailed.
